Lace Quality Inspection: A Buyer's Sample Checklist
Agree what will be checked
A useful lace inspection starts with the approved style and specification. Identify the sample version, material requirements, dimensions, color reference and intended application. Agree acceptance criteria with the supplier rather than assuming that a generic checklist covers every product.
Appearance and construction
Compare the motif, edge shape and overall appearance with the approved sample. Check for visible damage, stains, loose threads, uneven patterns or other defects relevant to the construction. For embroidered trims and appliques, consider motif placement and the area needed for attachment.
Dimensions and color
State how width or applique dimensions will be measured, including the measurement points and tolerance. Compare color using the agreed physical reference and viewing conditions. Photographs and screen colors alone are not an adequate approval standard.
Performance for the intended use
Where required, agree tests for stretch direction, extension, recovery, washing or other use conditions. Record the method and acceptance criteria so results can be compared. Do not infer fiber composition or performance from appearance alone; request the relevant specification or test evidence.
Packaging and order identification
Check that the style, color, quantity and agreed packaging or labels match the order. Identify the sample or batch reference in the inspection record so any issue can be discussed precisely.
Record the decision
Keep photographs, measurements and comments linked to the agreed sample. Resolve discrepancies and record approved revisions before the next order stage. This is a buyer preparation guide, not a statement that every order follows one universal inspection standard.
